Gasparilla Island has over 7 miles of shoreline on the Gulf of Mexico. In addition to two Florida State Park beaches there any number of beach access spots open to the public. The closest one to the resort is at 18th Street less than 2 1/2 miles away, easily accessed by bike, golf cart, or car. The water off the island is very clear with a sand bottom going out in some cases for several hundreds of yards. There is never a crowd.
Shelling is very popular and some island residents have built a number of very impressive collections. Several are on display at the Boca Grande library.
If spending a relaxing day on a quiet secluded beach from away from the crowds is your goal then Gasparilla Island is the perfect spot.
